Experienced Advisor Leads Firm's Infrastructure Software PracticeUpdata Advisors announced the promotion of Joel Strauch to Partner. Based in the Reston, Virginia office, Mr. Strauch heads Updata's Infrastructure Software practice and most recently advised SwapDrive, a leading provider of online backup and storage solutions, in its acquisition by Symantec. Mr. Strauch joined Updata Advisors in 2005 bringing significant experience in both investment banking and in advising high-growth technology companies, having completed more than 50 transactions with aggregate value in excess of $4 billion.

Acquisition Bolsters Symantec’s Norton Portfolio

California-based Symantec, a global provider of security, storage, and systems management solutions, has acquired Washington, D.C.-based SwapDrive, a market-leading provider of online backup and management software and services. Additionally, SwapDrive’s Backup.com and WhaleMail.com services are also now available from Symantec.

SwapDrive’s offering enables customers to backup, store, and access their business-critical information remotely. This complements Symantec’s suite of Norton products by offering their customers a more comprehensive solution to secure and manage their digital information across all of their devices.
