IT Security Companies On Shopping Spree

eWeek notes the increased appetite of managed services and IT security companies for acquisitions. Don More of Updata Capital explains why.

eWeek's story, "On The Prowl," highlights how Brad Miller, CEO of managed services provider Perimeter Internetworking, is supplementing his company's organic growth with strategic acquisitions to illustrate the increase in M&A activity among managed services and IT security firms.  Updata Capital advised Perimeter in its acquisition of Breakwater Security Associates earlier this year.  According to eWeek, industry experts expect strategic acquisitions to continue among companies seeking to improve their bottom line, expand into new geographic or industry markets and augment their core competencies.  Don More, Partner at Updata Capital cites one of the factors driving activity is the willingness of companies who focused on balancing their books and putting cash in the bank after the dot-com crash, to take on debt to finance M&A activities.
